Two senior students from º£½ÇÖ±²¥, Jonathan Bachelor and Phil Robles II, presented their research at the Midwestern Psychological Association meeting in Chicago yesterday. Their poster, titled “I’m From the Government and I’m Here To Help: The Impact of Happiness and Well-Being on Receptiveness to Government Intervention,” was part of the Psychology Department’s new undergraduate research team program.

Bachelor and Robles were accompanied by Professors Doris and Hugh Van Auken. This marks the first time students from Holy Cross have presented at a major conference under this new program. In addition to their presentation, the students attended various scientific and poster sessions throughout the conference.

Bachelor reflected on the opportunity, saying, “It’s always a great feeling to finally have put together months of research into one nice, concise presentation.  And it feels even better when other people see it, ask questions, and express a genuine interest into something you, and your team, have put so much work into.â€

Robles said the presentation was a natural extension of the joyful collaboration and tightknit community that are hallmarks of Holy Cross.

“Getting an opportunity to work with fellow classmates who are as interested in research as you are and receive guidance from amazing professors has been a unique experience that I have gained at º£½ÇÖ±²¥,” he said. “I will take this experience with me as I prepare for my future endeavors in graduate school and beyond.”
